What A Security Company...

vs.

MUST Have

These are the 9 mandatory protocols

every legitimate company must follow,

without exception

  1. A patrol officer must be licensed 

  2. Anyone who protects property, lives, or theft must be an employee—there are no contractor exemptions

  3. All private patrol operators must carry $1M in liability insurance (which only protects the employees)

  4. All employers must have worker’s comp insurance (contractors are exempt from WCI which puts you, the client, at-risk of lawsuits)

  5. All security employees must be licensed with a state guard card (there is no exception for that)

  6. The badges and patches must be state approved and contain the name of the company in the badge or patch

  7. All security officers who are working at a location off-site (at client location) must be paid weekly

  8. All officers wearing uniform—even if it’s a suit—must receive a uniform allowance or cleaning allocation (it’s a federal law and should be in their paycheck)

  9. All these rules apply to everyone, including off-duty police officers (they must also be licensed, guard card, gun permit… they are not exempted from any of these requirements)

SHOULD Have

These are the recommended services every security company should have

to provide professional support:  

  1. Avoid former guards that became private patrol business owners—often they don’t know how to run a company or even do their taxes

  2. Avoid former or off-duty police officers who don’t have the business skills or acumen to manage security personnel

  3. Insist the PPO (Private Patrol Operator) conducts a comprehensive background check (live scans or state searches for a license are not comprehensive—they only check for criminal records over past 3 years or so)

  4. Hire a PPO that has an HR department or agency

  5. Hire a PPO that has been in business for at least 5 years (means there’s client satisfaction)

  6. Hire a PPO that has responsive, 24-hour dispatch (instead of waking up the owner in the middle of the night to tell them what went wrong!)

  7. Avoid organizations that are too big to fail—they pay minimum wage or slightly over it and the personal attention you receive is probably inadequate

  8. Hire a PPO that uses GPS or global fencing on their phones so when an officer leaves duty you’ll know

How long does it take to conduct your On-Site Risk Assessment Survey?

Approximately 30-60 minutes on-site, then another 2-3 days to produce the full report—which includes our recommendations—and send it over to you.

 

I’ve never handed over insurance negotiations to a third party, how does that work?

It's quite simple, actually. Once you've given us the name of your insurance provider with written permission to contact them on your behalf, we'll engage and submit our report. We'll then send you a letter notifying you of the new policy rate.

In the case where the company requires more improvements to hit your target savings, we'll follow up with you to discuss next steps.
