A patrol officer must be licensed

Anyone who protects property, lives, or theft must be an employee—there are no contractor exemptions

All security employees must be licensed with a state guard card (there is no exception for that)

The badges and patches must be state approved and contain the name of the company in the badge or patch

All security officers who are working at a location off-site (at client location) must be paid weekly

All officers wearing uniform—even if it’s a suit—must receive a uniform allowance or cleaning allocation (it’s a federal law and should be in their paycheck)

All these rules apply to everyone, including off-duty police officers (they must also be licensed, guard card, gun permit… they are not exempted from any of these requirements)

Insist the PPO (Private Patrol Operator) conducts a comprehensive background check (live scans or state searches for a license are not comprehensive—they only check for criminal records over past 3 years or so)
